International Joint Initiatives Delegation participated in the conference on EU-China relations in the light of connectivity on 3rd October, 2019, hosted by the Brussels Academy for China and European Studies and the Confucius Institute at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and Egmont in Brussels, Belgium.
What does the growing importance of connectivity mean for the future of EU-China relations? At the conference, the prominent professors from Ghent University, Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University and Webster University Vienna discussed on the issues of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which is the most prominent example of a global actor pursuing a geo-economic strategy, and EU’s EU-Asia Connectivity Strategy, which is only its latest development, since the EU has been using its economic instruments to pursue its political objectives to great effect for a long time.
